Hey, I recently bought a used 2008 Lexus RX350 and when I close the tailgate and open the tailgate it doesn't just beep twice like most I've seen. It beeps about 7 times. You can hear the first two regular ones and then its followed by a few more at a different tone. Also when closing it using the power button on the hatch, front console and key it makes this big "pop" sound just before it closes. However it opens fine when opening it with the power function. No problem when used manually. I know I can just use it manually but its pretty redundant to pay more for a vehicle with the option and it sounds like its going to snap... Any help is appreciated

Hi praedcher. Its possible the 7 beeps are from when the original owner set up the personalized settings. The options for the rear door initial settings are:
6-7 high beeps when opening/closing the vehicle
6-7 medium beeps when opening/closing the vehicle
2 medium beeps when opening/closing the vehicle (standard)

I am not sure why the beeps would have different tones, but perhaps Lexus could reprogam it for you (for a fee of course...) Also, I have no idea what the pop sound may be...

The popping could be the post that the gas filled lift strut head rotates on. Mine was rusty and had little pops now and then. I pulled the lift struts off, cleaned the rusty head and painted it. "Pop free" since I did that.
