2007 RX350 XM Radio
#2
I just bought a 2008 Lexus GS 350 today, the radio is satellite capable, meaning it has a button for AM/SAT, but the satellite portion of the radio has never been connected/activated. The lexus dealer told me it was a $600 add on to get it going. We ended up spilting the cost at $300 during negotiations. That was my experience.

If it has the AM/SAT button, you can get this and buy a tuner separately:

Or buy it with the tuner:

There are instructions here on Club Lexus for installation or you can have it installed by someone.

cmichael - Vaistech will work with any RX...not just the ones with AM-SAT button. On models without the AM-SAT button, the Vaistech makes the stereo think that it is a second CD Changer... Pressing the DISC button multiple times will cycle between the regular CD Player and the CD Changer (aka, Vaistech).
Flopo - if your RX already has the XM tuner, you would be able to cycle between AM and SAT by pressing the AM-SAT button. If you don't have XM then pressing the AM-SAT button will only go to AM.
Here is a link to the SAT tuner from Carson Lexus. Chances are that it will come with a print out of the instructions for installing it. Otherwise, the instructions can be found on the Toyota TIS website under the accessories tab. The TIS site subscription is $15.00 for two days. But honestly, I have seen the instructions and you can just install it however you want...the factory ones just have specific locations where they want you to mount everything, but it wouldn't make a difference where things were mounted. http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=5503

2008 RX350
Button switches to XM/Sat
Screen displays "Antenna"???
AM works (sound)
Tried XM channel 1, 184... nothing
Is the antenna not plugged in, or?
Seems odd to have everything needed for XM but no antenna for XM?

While the radio/head unit may have a button that says SAT, the XM is not automatically installed. XM was an option that you had to purchase separately. Normally when the radio did not have the XM option installed, the only thing that happened when you pressed the SAT button is that the AM radio band is selected. The message that you get, Antenna, sounds like the radio does have the XM option. XM does have its own antenna, so perhaps the XM antenna amplifier module has gone bad.
