31000 miles $27800 dealer says 89 octane but some use 87 octane. has anyone used 87 in this 08 ? and is there room for negotiating a lower price ?
any help would be appreciated

There's plenty of info on using lower octane fuel in vehicles spec'ed for higher octane out there for you to refer to (as always, consider the source). In most cases it's not a problem to occasionally use lower octane fuel in a vehicle designed for higher octane but it can lead to knocking and pinging. Severe knock will lead to engine damage. If 91 octane's going to break the bank then you might want to consider a vehicle that is designed for 87.
