As I mentioned above, probably just a setting and probably after you updated their software. In this case this RX will not read UDF file format discs as you found out:

"Some CD players might not support the UDF file system, so you should use the ISO/Joliet file system for burning MP3 discs (Disc > File system in the menu)."

I believe your problem is perhaps unique to the Windows operating system as a Mac would write this as an ISO 9660 hybrid disc by default. Not sure about Linux.

CD+R's do exist, but are kinda hard to find nowadays. I think it's just a slightly different format, though I don't really remember what was actually different. I know back in the day, there was some compatibility issues with CD+R's not working in all players, so it was recommended to just not use CD+R's when burning CD's and simply sticking to CD-R's.

If they existed I just do not remember it. Wouldn't be the first thing I lost from memory. In my many years I worked with many of the media storage formats -- optical or magnetic media. If it existed we usually got a unit to experiment with in the lab. I know there are DVD-R and DVD+R, however, even when I google it I could not seem to find anything on CD+R.

These are the CD disc formats I remember: CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, CD-ROM/XA, CD-Audio, Video-CD, Photo CD, CD-I(FMV), CD-Extra, CD-TEXT.
