Check engine & VSC light ON
Hi, all I'm new to this forum.
Recently I met a problem that the check engine light and VSC light are both ON after I turned on my RX330. I checked my gas cap is tight.
I disconnected the battery and the lights disappeared. But after 3 weeks, the lights came back.
Now the lights will ON for about 1-2 days and disappear, After few days, it came back again.
I got an error code P2241 after reading.
My car is RX330 2004year and already ran 150K km.
Please help to give me some advices to fix this issue.

Today I checked the Oxygen sensor by myself.
My first thinking is to swap the Bank1 sensor1 and Bank2 sensor1. But I found the connectors of the 2 sensors are different (One is male and one is female). So forget it.
Then I used a toothpick to clean the cabon deposition of both sensors. Looks they're cleaner than before.
I installed them back and the lights are off. I'm so happy with that.
Unfortunately, after half day, the lights came back.
I think maybe I need replace the oxygen sensor now.

I have 2 questions about the oxygen sensor:
1. As error code P2241, the oxygen sensor (bank2 sensor1) is open. I found there are 2 sensors at the bottom of the car. One is inside protection board (plastic) and one is outside and easily touched. One connector is male and the other is female. I'm not sure which one is the correct one I need replace. Anyone can tell me?
2. I measured the sensor resistance between +B and HT. One sensor is 18.2ohm and the other is 13.8ohm. Both are out of the 1.8-3.4ohm. Is it normal?

Bank 1 is almost always the ank withe the manifold that comes from the cylindar number 1. Bank two is usually opposite of that. you have 4 02 sensors I believe. 2 pre cat and two post cat. I know you have at least 3.
They are not interchangable. Make sure and pull the code your engine has and don't just go by what another thread says.

Try these diagrams for the sensors:

I had the check engine light on too, on my 04 RX330, so took it to Lexus and was told I needed a new catalytic converter. Cost was over $1,000. so I decided to shop it and had the job done at a independent for $589. Over a year ago and no further issues.

New Update:
Actually from the diagrams provided by Alchemist, I found I did a wrong test before. I checked both sensor2, not sensor1. This time I bought a new sensor1 (It can swap between bank1&2) to replace it. Unfortunately, the light is still there, Both my sensor1 are fine (One's R=2.5ohm, Another =2.7ohm). I checked the heating relay and the relay is fine, too. So the problem is from wiring or ECU. I have no idea where is ECU now. Maybe I have to bring the car to Lexus dealer.
Is anyone have expierence for the ECU and the wiring can share?

Today the "check engine" and "VSC" lights came up on my 2007 RX (with about 42K miles). Looking at past forum comments some say it can be due to a faulty oxygen sensor. Interestingly, about a week ago I added 1/2 bottle of Red Line fuel cleaner to a full tank of gasoline (I last did this about 3 years and 20K miles ago). I'm wondering if the fuel cleaner impacted the the oxygen sensor since this just seem to be quite a coincidence. I would appreciate any thoughts on this. If the fuel cleaner is likely the culprit (releasing some debris that then mucked up the oxygen sensor, would someone please tell me which fuse(s) to pull on a 07RX because I thought I would use up the present tank of gas, refill with new gas and then reset the warning lights to see if the warnings reappear. Finally, if I do reset the warning lights but later take it to a dealer, can they see the old codes despite me resetting the warning lights? Thanks in advance!
