Default synthetic oil

My wife accidentally had the dealership use 100% synthetic oil on las oil change. My '06 RX330 has 95K miles. Will it hurt to switch back to synthetic blend?

It's more better. Your next oil change is in 15 thousand miles.

Only if a used oil analysis says it is ok.

Change at normal interval.

That's all I ever use for the last 15 years, full 100% synthetic. While the car is under warranty, I change oil every 5K miles. When it is out of warranty, every 10K is good enough.

I'd stay with synthetic. I wait till it comes on sale it's usually the same as dinno oil. I use it for peace of mind and stick with the same service interval. Oil is cheap versus costly engine repairs

synthetic oil is far superior for a number of reasons.

It doesnt directly cost us petroleum, it provides better protection and for literally 2 to 3 times as long... I have run mobil1 synthetic in my SC400 since Ive owned it, for roughly 11 years and it still runs like a new car.

In fact, I actually am starting to wonder why it doesnt cost the same thing or less than conventional oil.

Blends are better than Dino, but go for Full Synthetic.

My 06 RX330 has 158k miles on it. I don't know if full synthetic or blended oil was used. I plan on changing the oil myself for the first time since I've owned (almost 2 weeks). Is it ok to use full synthetic?

The car runs real smooth and quiet now. With the hood popped you still don't hear much. If that means anything.

MDRX330,

You can switch from dino to synthetic or back at anytime; however, some say its best to choose one manufacturer and weight and stick with that. I use Walmart's cheapest full synthetic and change it every 5000 mi. Dino would probably do just as well, but I 'feel better' with synthetic in the engine.https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ima...es/biggrin.gif

Just remember, today`s Conventional oil`s are the best they have ever been. I sleep perfectly well at night with conventional oil in my sump.

I have dealer service records for the car up until 120K miles so I presume they used 5w-30 "toyota genuine motor oil " which I believe is full synthetic.

I've always liked Valvoline sythetic motor oil. It kept my 03 M45 running and sounding great. I'll use that from here on out.

Another thing, if you have 38k undocumented miles I would seriously consider a complete fluid change.

Oil
Radiator
Brakes
Power steering
Transmission
Transfer case
etc,

Make sure the plugs were done and of course, the timing belt and water pump. You'll be ready for 300k!
