Default K&N Filter problems

I just spent 2 hrs on swapping out my air filter to a K&N filter and I still cant get the airbox cover to fully seat. He two clip hinges are in and one bolt is tight but the second bolt is floating. Any tips?

Default K&N Air Filter

My shop told me my air filter needed replacing so I ordered a new K&N but I could not get the air box back together. The two clips are in, the front bolt is in but cannot seat the rear bolt so it's floating .
Any tips on getting this air box back together?

You need to get the back corner down first. Then work on the fronts which are the easiest

I did get the rear in first then the front and tightened it down but realized the hinges of the airbox cover were not locked down. After removing the filter about ten times thinking t wasn't seated properly I finally got the two left side hinges in and the front clip and front bolt in but the rear was about 1/4" off. I got tired after fighting with this thing for over two hours and gave up for today and will get at it again tomorrow. It doesn't feel like much of a gap in the rear so I hope it doesn't throw off the sensors.

Is the filter completely seated? Does the k&n have a thicker outer seal than the stock one? Take some pics if youre still having trouble

The K&N has a really thick rubber seal on pared to the OEM. The K&N is seated well all around but I'm guessing its the thickness of the rubber rim around the filter that makes it difficult to seal. It's really tough to get pictures in there, the space is very very tight.

Even the factory filter is tight. So get the back right corner down then front right then the clips. The seal still may show but that should be ok.

I had no problem installing K&N Filter on 2007 RX350. The filter has to seat in place correctly, otherwise the cover can't be locked in.

Make sure the nut did not fall out of the bottom. It is "kept" in by sliding it in to a slot, but it often falls out. If you are turning the bolt and turning it, but it doesn't bite, you need to check that the nut hasn't fallen out.

I'd bet it did. Either that or you are not seating the filter and box cap properly.
