Maybe it's all the salt they put on the New York streets and highways. I never had a problem with metal caps, but I live in California. I hope you were successful in removing them. I see plastic caps in your future

I just had my 2008 RX in for an oil change at local Toyota dealer. They changed all my metal caps out for plastic caps. They said the metal caps were starting to corode from all the salt Mich. Has been using this year.
