What year RX? Did you ever service the transmission?
I believe this is one of the few reports (if any) of a failed transmission on a second generation RX.

The OP profile indicates he has a 2008 RX350. This would be covered by the powertrain warranty for 7 years or 70,000 miles, so he is over by 1,800 miles. It would be worth calling Lexus corporate especially since it has been happening for several months. They have helped others in this situation by paying the labor costs of the dealer. It's worth a try!

Transmission was not due to be serviced so I did not have it serviced, After talking with Lexus customer service I was informed that the Zone rep was the final word and that they would be of no help. So much for Lexus being Number One. If this is the "Lexus Luxury experience" I was not impressed. I found out also that a sketchy service History means, that you did not take car to Lexus dealer for service. Meaning a luxury screw job for $99 cabin filter or a $90 oil filter for example. I'm done with Lexus, I was treated better by Chrysler when I had a transmission go out in the 1990's.
