Side mirror looks like it is peeling?
I just noticed this happening recently. My passenger side mirror looks like it is peeling. The part that "peeled off", no longer auto dims, while thankfully the 90% of the mirror still has dimming. But it looks ugly as heck. Anyone ever had this issue? Any simple solutions?

Sounds like you are talking about the actual coating on the glass itself. I haven't ever seen peeling before, but I have seem ruptures if you will as a result of impacts. The only real fix to it is to replace the glass, which is unfortunately a bit pricey. I would check ebay, as I don't think salvage yards are going to have many (if any) RXs as new as ours, nor is it likely that they will just sell you the glass. Make sure the glass is heated and auto dimming. It's actually really easy to pull the glass out and replace. Simply move the mirror all the way up, pull upwards gently on the bottom of the glass, and out it comes. It's just a couple clips holding it in. I remember seeing a diy for this that had pictures a while back; you can probably find it if you search.

The dealer wants $400 for the glass mirror replacement. The used OEM ones on ebay go for around $200. I found on EBAY a replacement glass for $60 shipping from England. Its only heated, it doesn't have the auto dim feature. Will get it in a week or so.

@jakenbrake, you're lucky to have 2nd gen RXs in a local yard. I can't seem to find one in the state of Oklahoma. Dallas area seems to be the closest place, and they only have a handful of RXs. I can, however, find RX300s all day long in Oklahoma.

Hope you guys don't mind if I jump in on with a somewhat related topic. I have a mirror on my 07 that is loose and shaking a bit. Dealership tells me there is no way it will fall off, which is all I was really worried about it. Do you think that over time it can't work lose and fall off?
