Temporarily disable all horns
Hello everyone! I just recently got a remote starter system installed and it didn't go very well. After a couple of trips back to the shop, it seems to be fine but I somehow triggered the alarm panic and couldn't shut it off until it just stopped on its own.
Now, I suspect the remote started system installed malfunctioned but the installer assured me that I accidentally triggered it from the additional remote and that it could only be out up with that remote. He told me that worst case is that I need to put the key into ignition and turn it to ON and OFF positions 5 times in a row and it will silence the alarm no matter what.
So I won't to test this out but I don't want to drive the neighbors crazy if it "sticks" like this again. So I want to disable all horns, or at least the alarm horn if it's a dedicated one. I found info on where the horn relay is and I would normally try it but given that it might stick if I set the alarm off again, I wanted to increase my chances by asking here.
Sorry for lengthy description but I wanted to explain that I am NOT trying to steal a car
So the question is: how do I disable all horns or at least the alarm one of it's dedicated?
Thank you!

I find this statement somewhat troubling I looked through the service manual area on theft deterrent and found that the horn sounding is a custom setting that the Lexus dealer can change on/off. See attached:

Oops . Missed a word. Just edited the original post...
Do dealers usually charge for changing personal settings?
Also, do you think that there is no other way to disable it, like pulling a fuse / relay? I would imagine the whole dealer thing would take a while, my wife is using the car during the day and I usually have access in the evenings...

I am sure the dealership would charge a fee to change the setting. The RX has two horns and most likely they are protected by fuses. I will see if they are listed in the electrical manual. Will post back If find information on that.

To be honest, I really don't want to spend the money on something that I will use once and for a few minutes only.
Rainbird, I assume you weren't able to find the diagrams?
Thanks again!

Got it, thanks! Yes, hopefully someone will have that info, if not, I guess I will take the car out into an open area with very few people around and tried it out there...

I didn't give up and found this illustration of the horn system location of the fusible link block and horn fuse in the 2008 RX350 Service Manual. Your "about me profile" doesn't indicate what year and model of RX you have. I don't know if there is a difference between the 330 and 350 on this. Hope it helps.

Thanks Rainbird! I have a 2007 RX350 -- think they would be exactly the same. Looks like a single fuse and a single relay for the horns. Do you think that's the only two horns or the alarm has it's own? I am thinking that I will just try this method and will be ready to disconnect the battery, worst case scenario, I think if there is a second battery just for the alarm, it will die pretty quick. Thanks a lot!

I really don't have an answer to that. I didn't see another horn in the manual illustrations, but that doesn't mean an alarm horn isn't hidden there somewhere. Good luck, post back tell us how it turned out.

I didn't have a chance to test it out yet but here is a diagram that shows there is indeed a third security horn. Now, onto to find the fuse / relay for it. Thanks!

So I did some testing and disconnecting all three horns silenced the alarm completely. Disconnecting just the security horn did not work. I was not able to find the fuse for the security horn. Thanks a lot for all of your help!
