Steering Controls
Hi again,
Doing some looking around the 330 and noticed that in the Japanese version there are controls on both sides of the steering while in the North American version, there are just one set on the left. Any idea what the 3 on the right would have been?
Thanks

I've seen pics with buttons on both sides of the steering wheel also. But, it's not just the Harrier (Japanese version) that has it, it's also shown on some RX330. I haven't figured it out yet and no one has been able to tell me. Hopefully soon.

hmmm . . . not sure what those could be. i haven't seen it on any of the models in my area. the second pic you posted is my RX330 w/ the Navigation/Mark Levinson package with towing, DVD entertainment, etc. that is considered the "fully loaded" (well, highest MSRP i guess) package on the west coast, so i don't know what option it could be.
i just saw a pic of a performance pkg RX330, no extra controls there either.
must be a japanese thing - maybe voice control integrated phone or something??

If you go to the RX300/330 main page and at the bottom do a search for:
Buttons on right hand side of steering wheel you'll find a picture that show's a Lexus emblem on the steering wheel and buttons on both left AND right side of steering wheel.

Attached is a pic showing the RX330 with buttons on both sides of the steering wheel. Notice the .Lexus emblem on the steering wheel. This should validate the fact that it's not just the Japanese version that has buttons on both sides of the steering wheel.
But, does any one own or has anyone seen buttons on the right side of the RX330 steering wheel?
Too bad we are not able to read the buttons in the picture. If only the pic was taken at a better angle, we would have our answer.

that photo looks like it was taken at an auto show. so chances are, that particular car was a pre-production model, and those buttons were not intended for final production in the U.S. i looked at that website familycar.com and now the pics posted of the RX330 don't have those extra controls:

It looks like we will be able to figure them out after-all, this is from the new Solara due out this summer

Ok guys,
The buttons on thr right is to change camera views. The Harrier has serval camera, in addition to the rear back-up camera there is a camera for the front and for the left side of the car. Another intersting feature the Harrier has is that it can lower only the left side of the car when stopped so that the passengers on the left can get off easier. The air suspenion lowers the car 15mm while the feature I just talked about lowers the car 30mm.

Nice job there on the translation. Does the U.S version have air suspension like that as well?
I wonder what the other cameras apart from the rear for backing up are meant for
Any chance you could try to scan the brochure, esp the interior and options page and post it up here. really curious as to how the Harrier looks and how the Japanese market it there.

The US version does have the air suspension that lowers and raises the car 15mm from it's standard height, but it does not have the passenger side suspension thing that lowers the car 30mm. The other cameras are for the front of the car located under the emblem and another camera is mounted under the left side mirror. I believe it is to help during parallel parking. There is 30+ pages in the catalog including some pretty cool accessories (body kits, spoilers, mirror options, suspension, etc all orginal Toyota parts) I will try to scan them when I get some free time. If there is something you are interested in seeing it would make it easier.
