I just replaced my front hoot lift support strut for my 2004 RX. It was a super easy swap. I purchased the Lift Supports Depot strut, which comes with the lower bracket. http://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/
I ordered their brand/model from Amazon and received it super fast.

Reviving from an old post. A week ago, the temps dropped to 40 degrees on a Saturday in ATL. As usual, I use the weekend to check on the vitals on my 2004 RX330. While checking fluid levels, the hood fell on my head. The hood is quite heavy and it scared the hell out of me. Luckily no tear on my head, no blood. When I tried to lift it back, no assistance from the hood strut (1 strut only on left hand side). So time to replace the hood strut. They are relatively cheaper nowadays, around $30. I always buy aftermarket. I do not know if I have replaced this on my 2004.
Winter time is when the strut will the time the strut will fail. For some of you who are DIY’ers be aware of this potential issue. It could cause harm. Also now looking back, I was struggling to lift the hood on the RX for months now and I ignored it. This was the indication that the strut’s seal was compromised. So be aware. And for $30, I would recommend that you replace yours if the car is 10 years old.

The Strut got delivered in 2 days!, It is freaking 35 degrees out, need to warm up so I can replace my hood strut! Lesson learned, don't wait for these to fail. You do not want stitches on your head.
