Does anyone who what the outer door panel is made from on the 2009 RX350?

I was taking my wife's RX for a brake job at PepBoys and one of the employees swung another customer's door right into her passenger side. The guy did it so hard, that the door got stuck inside our car's door panel! He then proceeded to yank it out and left a huge scratch right next to a huge paint chip. He then quick drove away into one of the far bays.

When confronted with his manager, he denied the who thing and claimed the dent was "rusted" and could not have occurred just then. It just looks like a brownish residue or some color found below the paint - it is a metallic gray car to begin with.

If I can confirm that the door panel is made from Aluminum, then at least i can knock down his argument... can any one assist?

I believe it is steel. But when in doubt, check it with a magnet.

I would ask them to show you the video cameras.

Go to the manager, and keep climbing the corporate chain till they deal with it. I am sure there are video cameras.

If you really want to get their attention, write a letter, copy all the managers at all their branches in the county and send it to corporate head in the state you live in.

I had to do that to a toyota dealer. and then they took care of the issue. it's called accountability. make sure you describe the guy that did it as well as the customer car he did it in.

The color under the paint could be the paint primer, although usually it is a light gray. Another possibility is that it is Bondo - the car was in an accident before.

What Pep Boys did sucks.

Door panels are made of steel. Sorry to hear about your loss. That is very irresponsible of the people at PepBoys.
