Hey folks, I purchased a used 2009 RX 350 Pebble Beach Edition from a private seller few months ago. Truck was (still is) in great shape and no complaints thus far. When I purchased this vehicle, it was at 92K Kms. I have driven it over 10K more. I have a personal mechanic whom I've been taking vehicles to for many years and trust his input. However I'm a bit skeptical with this vehicle as I want to make sure this SUV lasts me many more years as I simply love it. I've been thinking about taking it to a Lexus dealership and have them give it a thorough check to find any potential issues with it. I understand this might get a bit costly but I'm willing to fork up some money if it'll ensure safe vehicle operations for years to come. I need your suggestions whether I should go this route OR simply go back to my mechanic and have him perform a simple oil change and perhaps tire rotations etc. Also if anyone can suggest anything specific that should be checked/replaced in a 2009 RX350 after 100K kms, that'll be appreciated.
Cheers,
Rick

I have a 2009RX350 with 50K+ miles, and it has performed agreat with just the factory-specified maintenance. You can check through the Lexus website (with your VIN) what work was done on your car - if at the dealer - and otherwise, I would just refer to the instruction manual (or on the website) to know what needs to be serviced. Your car - like mine is stil 'young' in miles or kms!

Go to mylexus.com, enter the VIN and read/download the service history. While you can see what has been done, it will not tell you about any problems that might be developing. In that respect, I would recommend that you take the vehicle to the Lexus dealer. They have all the specialized test equipment for your vehicle that your local mechanic may not have.

Check on your timing belt and if it's been done. I think it's recommended to be replaced at 100k. Sometimes there is a sticker inside the hood area near the front indicating a replacement and date/mileage.
Spark plugs around 125k and the back 3 are difficult to do (aka expensive job). Need to remove intake to gain access.
Check brakes
Change fluids
Check Coolant system for leaks. Especially around radiator.
