Default considering buying a lexus Rx 400h 2008

Hey There!

I am looking into buying an RX 400h 2008 model with 62000 miles. what are the things I need to look for during a test drive? what issues does this car have?
is the 4wd holding up after 9 years? the Hybrid technology still work?

Thank you

Great Auto, wow, low mileage. Things that will come up are timing belt at 90k miles. There are several recalls on vehicle, you can join MYLexus.com and enter the vin number and see if there are any outstanding recalls. As for 4wd, remember it is a hybrid, the rear drive is an electric motor. It only comes on with slip to the rear wheels, or under extreme hard acceleration. I bought mine at 89k miles and now have 190k miles. Love this vehicle. You can expect around 24 to 25 miles per gallon. Look at headlamps, if they have moisture there is a extended warranty on them. The hybrid system also has a recall fix. The dash has an extended warranty. The Brake actuator assembly has a extended warranty till next year. The car should be smooth and quiet. Rattles in the back are common.

Have full service history from Lexus Owners, all done at selling Lexus dealer to 116,000 miles up through Jan,3rd 2017. I drove it off lot on 6-17-17 with 121,310 miles on it. So would Lexus dealer fix the hybrid system recall and the dash and Brake actuator too. Or do I need to ask for them to be fixed?

Get it inspected -- same as with any used car. Make sure you use a good inspector. Don't just look at common issues and check out the individual vehicle's specific concerns.

Ours isn't AWD and the hybrid system is just fine on our. However, you can't assume that the one you're looking at is going to be in identical shape to those that belong to other people.
