OEM Ignition Coil
Hello Again,
I am about to change the spark plugs on my '08 RX 350 with 157,000 miles. Per heeded advice from you good folks, I am going to change the three rear ignition coils with new Denso OEM coils. On eBay and Amazon I find dozens and dozens of Denso coils that fit my vehicle, ranging in price from $59 to $122 apiece. Some have the following note:
"Denso partners with other manufacturers to supply the parts your car was originally built with. This product is in a Denso package, however the part may have been manufactured by an independent Denso supplier"
So, can someone please tell me where I can purchase quality replacement coils?

I think it comes down to luck, for instance one coil in my ES350 went out a few weeks ago at just 37,000 miles. Whereas, I have original coils in both my RX300 and ES300 which have nearly half a million miles combined.
I would just keep one new coil in the trunk as a backup, and stick with Denso.

Would not risk of putting in old stick coils (that's the official name). Go for Denso, I suggest.

Replacement coil for 2nd gen RX350 is Denso part# 673-1309. 65$ msrp. You can also buy new boot kit for each coil that are Denso part 631-6311. 45$msrp. Looks like you could reuse your old boots and springs though and skip the boot kit if you wanted, although probably a good idea to replace them as well. The range in price you are seeing likely shows prices for the coil only, or a package that contains both a coil and boot kit.

I wouldn't risk getting coils from a salvage yard. you may as well stick with what you have in your car.
I'd get the Denso's from a reputable source like RockAuto or if you're paranoid get them straight from a Lexus dealer.

Agreed, especially for the back coils, no one wants to repeat replacing a coil in the back in a couple of weeks, also you have some piece of mind with brand new coils as they are warranted for a longer period of time if found to be defective.
