Odd hatch indication
Curious if anyone else has had this happen. The hatch unlatched indicator on the instrument cluster started to come on intermittently. At least that's what I thought. The first time it happened I pulled off and opened and closed the hatch, and it went away. Then it became more frequent and I decided I'd replace the prox switch when it got warmer. Then the other day I noticed that when I turned the headlights off, car still running, the indicator went away. Hmmm. Turned the lights back on and the indicator lit again. Tried it several times and noticed it was consistent.
Does this make any sense to anyone? Do I need to drag out the schematic and try to see if there is any tie to the headlights? My 40 years in engineering screams "short".

I have no idea if this is a possible related wiring issue or ( if there is) a faulty sensor.
The headlights however wouldn't really make any sense at all, as in relation to the liftgate (perhaps a common ground?). It would be great if you can post the schematic.

I'm afraid I'll have to drag out the schematics and see if there is any tie to the lights. With the taillights in the door, I could draw a short connection due to some abrasion there. Guess I'll have to pull the panels and see if I can see anything.
