Default 2006 400h bluetooth not pairing

Paired well with previous phone Samsung S5 or S6

Samsung S7 and car cannot find each other.

Also, Neither Pixel XL nor Nexus 5x. detected car bluetooth.

Satx777, all the phones you listed you have difficulty pairing to your car are Bluetooth 4.2. The Samsung S5 and S6 are 4.0 and 4.1. The 4.2 is supposed to be higher security, longer connection range and easier to pair. However, it sounds like your car stereo or Nav (what ever has the bluetooth software) would require some form of firmware update. You should hit up your dealer to see if that is something they have or call Lexus' tech service.

Is Lexus (non-engine) firmware even upgradable?

Out of curiosity last year, I called about upgrading my 2012 Camry firmware, but dealer said he never heard of it, and there was no Toyota tech note on it.

Whither you have a hybrid or a gas running vehicle doesn't matter. A car stereo with usb ports are generally firmware upgradeable. If usb ports are non existent, I've heard of people connecting their laptop to their bluetooth device via bluetooth to update the firmware. Lexus is known for lasting way longer than 10 years, and with bluetooth tech, there should be a way to update it. Call Lexus corp and ask...they are super helpful. Just give them year and model of car.

Worst case is...you may need to consider a new aftermarket car stereo with bluetooth capability.

My iPhone 7 Plus is BT 4.2 and has no problems pairing. Our RX 400h's bluetooth has never been updated either. New BT devices should fall back on older BT standard as needed to pair.

OP -- what specifics steps are you taking and what exactly is going on?

Samsung S5 or S6 paired reliably, repeatedly with the car, without any fiddling of car's menu.

But my friend's new Samsung S7, my Pixel XL, and my Nexus 5x cannot detect car's bluetooth as available, nor can an Android b/t scanner utility..

We have been all over the 400h's menu system, and find no menu item about b/t or anything in the "phone" menu.

We're into the Lexus dealer for their "technology person" Fri evening, but if anybody knows the car's well-hidden menu item for b/t mgmt, let me know, please.

It's a friend's 400h so I don't have access right now.

Thanks

On my 2007 RX350 with navigation, I am unable to pair my Samsung S8. The only option on the screen is for an iphone. Is there a way around this??
