Default Need Help From The RX330 Nav Owners

I tried to do the right thing and post this in the Lexus Electronics Forum - but nobody's responded, so I'm hoping maybe the RX330 owners (eyebike, Lexuslover, SullyC5er, etc) can clue me in on this one...

I've tried to turn the guidance voice off in the setup menu - and the setting says it's off - but during my trips the female voice is STILL there - the only way to turn it off is to turn the VOLUME off for the entire system. What am I doing wrong??

Sorry, but we don't have that option.

Jeff, if you are REAL NICE to the lady she will ususually leave you alone, and she'll only talk when YOU WANT HER TO.

(sry, couldn't resist - wish I could help )

Default Nav voice off/on

I've been able to turn mine off (menu button; volumn screen then " off") but I think it resets itself to on when you restart the vehicle. It's difficult to obey two females at once later, ldf

laterldf,

that seems to be the only way - to turn the volume off

OK NEW NAV QUESTION THEN>>>>

there's a setting in the set up menu for VOICE GUIDANCE: I'm starting to think that's for MY voice commands (not to turn the Nav voice on/off) - I thought the RX330 didn't have voice command recognition for the Nav - onlly models like the LX and the SC??

Default nav

I think that it's a "generic" button for those vehicles which do have that option (answer one) or really means that your nav has "voice guidance" to alert you to the turns when you have set the destination (answer two) according to my service guy. Take your pick. My wife's 2002 ES 300 nav also says "Voice Guidance" on it but doesn't have the voice command from the driver option either. later, ldf

OK I see then, if my system WERE to have voice guidance (as in my voice) then that's what that button would do - gotcha!!!

Default voice guidance off

Under the set up options, "voice guidance in all modes" refers providing guidance even if the user is not currently using the map screen. In other words, if you are in the air conditioning screen, or the radio screen, and a guidance point comes up, then the system will still give voice guidance. If you turn this option off, then the system will not interupt you with voice guidance if you are in the radio screen. to make sure it also does not flash back to the guidance screen while you are using the radio functions, turn "screen transitions" off as well. To turn voice off, go to menu, volume, off. the default is "on", and will reset each time you shut the car off. This is because people were turning it off and forgetting, or somebody else drove the car after them, nad complained that the "stupid GSP thingy was broke".

I guess that female in there not only doesn't want to shut up when you want her to, she doesn't listen very well either!

NAVIGATOR IS KING!!!!!!!! thanks - that is obviously the answer I've been waiting for - that makes even MORE sense. - so the only way to not hear the guidance commands is to mute the volume.

Now I can go on with what little life I have
