Default A/C Auto Mode Malfunction

I notice when I have the A/C in auto, the Recirc button does not adjust as the system requires more or less cooling. I have not pressed the recirc button manually, or any other button on the A/C system that would cause it go into manual mode. I only and ever put the A/C system into Auto, and to reiterate, the Recirc button does not engage or disengage as the A/C system deems necessary. I live in Arizona and the system will always go to recirculate but it is now not, even on a day when it is 110.

Specifically, I get into the car when it is over 100, and turn on the air, and normally the A/C would be in recirc mode, but it is not. That is not right.

Thoughts appreciated.

I don't use the auto mode, I just press the a/c button. This makes the the recirculate button come on and it never goes off by itself. I'll have to try the auto mode and see.

When I press the OFF Button, the Recirculate Light always comes on...
if the A/C was functioning on a really cold setting, Auto or not. Try that to see if the Light comes on then.
In my case, here in the Great White North, A/C is only needed for shorter periods of time or on some days
& really cold isn't always needed, therefore in certain conditions Recirculate will not always come on automatically
or also possibly shut off automatically.

I don't recall ours ever automatically switching in Auto. However, on checking the manual it does indicate that it can switch. It specifically states:
The system may switch automatically to recirculated air mode when the coolest temperature setting is selected in summer.
...and I don't recall every using the coolest temperature setting so that may be why.

In the summer, Auto mode would always cycle the recirc button as needed. If it got warmer in the cabin, the recirc function would come on if needed, and then go off when the cabin cooled off to the desired setting. That's the way it should work and has worked until now

That's true but it never happen on my daughter's RX330 while I use, so I assume the cabin temperature maybe not high enough to trigger recirc under auto mode, but it did happen a couple times on my old 95 LS400 when cabin temp is quite high.

Perhaps a complete reset may help, disconnect the battery for 30 minutes.

Well the thing is it is hot enough. It's triple digits in AZ these days. My other two cars behave the same way, meaning, the recirc toggles on and off according to the temp in the cabin.

Try use Techstream check solar sensor or AC error code.

There is actually a way to check for codes with the A/C...
Follow the steps in the diagrams:

05RX330AWD - thanks for the info. I was due for a new battery, so the car is now off power and once the new battery is charged, I will see if disconnecting the battery solved the problem. If not, on to your info

I just did the diagnosing again and the system is now showing codes 21 and 24. Any idea where I can go to figure out what those codes mean? Thanks much in advance.

*Update* After some research, codes 21 and 24 are solar sensors. Turns out when I first did the diagnosing I was outside, and no codes were present. I decided to run the diagnosis again but I was in the garage, hence the two codes. At the end of the day, nothing seems to be wrong but the Recirc function does not behave in AUTO mode like it did before. I guess worse things can happen...

All the diagrams are from the 05 RX330 Repair Manual:
From the diagram below, I am assuming the last two digits refer to the codes, I couldn't use the Snipping Tool for the entire page this time...
it wouldn't be readable, although there are no more codes with either a 21 or 24 in them.

I use Techstream, I will get ambitious sometime soon to verify the air conditioning system & post the findings for comparisons....
great to hear you were able to figure that all out with results ending on a positive note.
