Default Painting/Replacing Grill

Hi guys, have any of you painted your front grill black? I have been looking to buy a black grill but the only one i can find doesn't have the lexus symbol on it, and i'd like to keep the symbol on the front grill. So has anyone just painted there's? If so how does it look? Or has anyone bought a black grill? Thanks!

You can Plasti-Dip it and you can decide to keep or simply peel off.

I wanted to thank the people in this forum for inspiring me to paint my grill black. The pictures and instructions were very helpful. This is my Lexus.

Default Anyone blacked out your grill?

The grill on my 2006 RX400h is looking a bit tired and I have been wondering how it would look if I blacked it all out with Plasti-dip. I did the grill on my X3 and Sprinter. and they both turned out well and held up well. I have a white pearl 400h and most of the trim is black.

It all depends on your personal tastes. I would not like it. It would be like having a big gaping hole in the front of your car.
Maybe try blacking out every other bar? Maybe leave the top bar and the logo and black out all the others?

Default I blacked out my grill, picture attached

I blacked out my grill with 3M electrical tape yesterday just to see if I liked the look I think I do and will likely go ahead and clean and paint it using Plastic Dip

Temporarily blacked it out with 3M black electricians tape to see if I like the look.

I'd leave the chrome surround since you left the L emblem chrome.

I Plast-Dipped my grill yesterday. following the instructions on the can I decided to do four coats waiting 1/2 hour between each coat. The L badge removes easily with one Phillips screw and there is zero masking required to paint this grill I just dropped it onto a dropcloth with a cardboard box underneath to raise it off to drop cloth and did one initial light coat and then three heavy full wet coats. It gives it a bit more contemporary look in my opinion. Next: To touch up all the rock chips on the nose of the hood.

Front bumper looks good so it may have been re-sprayed at some time.
I wonder if a mobile paint guy like the ones the dealers use can do an affordable filler & re-spray of the hood and make those paint chips go away, and maybe hit the mirrors too if they need it.

How's the paint on the rest of the car look?
