I just moved into a new home with a brand new LiftMaster garage door opener. I am attempting to reprogram the Homelink button in my 2005 Lexus RX 330 with no success whatsoever. I am following the instructions in the Owner's Manual... I already reprogrammed the button in my 2014 Lexus ES 350. That took less than 5 minutes. Can anyone guide me through updating my 2005 RX 330?

Did you try the erase function first? Press and hold the 1 and 3 buttons for about 20 seconds until the indicator lights flash. This will erase all 3 buttons of anything previously programmed. Then program the car button.
If the garage door opener is the type that uses rolling codes then you have to put the garage door opener into "training" mode so that it will accept the code sent by the car. But if you are using the same garage door opener remote that you used to program your ES 350, I don't think this would be necessary.

What dennis said. You need to erase stored presets first. Unless you had button available, then you simply program it. Programming is easy - and not. Of course, go far away from your garage or gate. Hold remote CLOSE to HOMELINK while holding the remote and button you want to program. Reason I said not easy is because it takes sweet time to program. So be patient. Then get back to garage, place opener into training or learning mode and tap button you programmed. Lights blink and there we are. Yopu have plenty of time to climb the ladder, tap opener button, climb down, tap HL button.

Make sure your RX is compatible with the new opener. I found out the hard way that newer openers can't communicate with my 2005 RX w/o and adapter.
Just an FYI.

CORRECT,,,the newer openers have different technology and will not work with older models,,you will need a bridge that you can buy from chamberlain,,you can also go on their web and check compatibility
