Default Drivers Door Armrest.....

Hello All -

I'm glad to be linking back with with CL! I had (2) ES300's but sold my last one for a Camry (Boring !!).....but in any case, we recently picked up a '07 RX350 for my wife; she really enjoys it!!
I wanted to start a thread regarding the material on the driver's side door (I don't think its leather.....vinyl perhaps ?), it is kind of loose from the years of use. I'm suprised that this topic is not more popular, as we've driven several RX350's prior to buying this one and many of them had this issue. Does anyone have any suggestions on repair or how to fix this ? The material in question is right around the handle that you'd grab to close the door.

Any thoughts / feedback would be much appreciated.

I've seen several RX's with this same problem when we were shopping around; I'm surprised this hasn't come up more frequently.........

My vinyl there is bad too. Mine is also cracked underneath where it creaks and makes noise if I apply pressure there.

This is a problem with all models of lexus in this age group. Toyota/Lexus used a bad plastic that deteriorates, sometimes becoming sticky. The only thing you can do is replace the panels, an expensive option. Lexus put an extended warranty on the door panels, making it 10 years. This also applies to the dashboard.

Unfortunately that means 2007 and older are no longer covered.

Our leather/vinyl ? is also loose, but at 160K miles and 10 years, its not bad enough for me to worry about. I would think any upholstery shop could replace it or fix it if ours ever rips.

I figured out that the 10 year warranty applies from the date the vehicle was purchased. So that window closed for me a week ago, time to find another solution!

Mine isn't cracked so much as it squeeks a bunch. Maybe I can get that under warranty?
