Default Rear strut DIY help

Please help, ruined the car. I replaced the rear struts, KYB rear and strut mount. So compressed the spring, took it off the old strut, re-used the lower rubber insulator but the bump stop was gone and the bellows were ruined, so I didn't have a good frame of reference.

All I did was put a new bump stop and bellow on the strut, put the spring on, and then the KYB rubber doughnut, and mount.

picture here. https://www.autozone.com/suspension-steering-tire-and-wheel/strut-mount-rear/kyb-strut-mount-rear/776674_23597_12162

after 20 miles the spring is off center of the upper KYB rubber doughnut and hitting the metal mount. What did I do wrong?

Default Other side is the problem, but it is obviously skewed.

You may have reinstalled it incorrectly. No worries.

Take it off and do it again. Try moving the spring and make sure to snug it up.

Google / youtube for pics of a correctly installed spring.

You didn't ruin the car. You can fix this.

Thanks. The other side is still centered, so as long as I'm not missing something critical I will pull it off, compress the spring enough to get it right and re-install.
