I am looking to buy a 2008 Lexus rx400 Hybrid with 124,000 miles on it anything I should know about this year or anything on the 2008 that goes wrong on these that's costly I read some of the form here and it sounds like the 2006 has got some issues but I'm wondering about the 2008 when it's got a hundred twenty four thousand miles the previous owner was a 60 year old man he traded it in and he did all the maintenance everything records from what the car dealer tells me they want $13,000 this Lexus what seems like a pretty good deal for a 2008 with this low of miles any advice you can give me any known issues that could be very expensive for me I would really appreciate your input guys I thank you so much you have no idea how much of a help these forms have been to me with my RX300 that I absolutely love but now it's driving me up the wall with sensors constantly going out and I really like the idea to better fuel economy with a hybrid and the newer features and options any advice would be so grateful
THANK YOU,
LARRY

Hmmm.... That is not a Toyota or Lexus dealer. Looks like a smaller outfit. Honestly, as I spotted several scratches and small dent on quite vague pictures, Knowing small dealerships like this, I'd be very suspicious that car was worked on. I saw some unbelievable rebuilds sold as new never painted.
So when you go there, try simple stuff. Look at all the hood and fenders bolts. They should show NO signs of being ever moved. They are painted at the factory after installation, so any even slightest signs of them being undone point towards body work. Same goes for trunk area. Then, compare right hand side under the hood to the left hand side. I am referring to the engine bay sidewalls etc. they should be mirror image. Shine line as far deep as you can, onto cross member and into tire wells etc. If you see any kinks, crimped areas, non factory fasteners or simply non OEM bolts - BEWARE.
I just bought NX200 and my first question was - where did it come from? I'd not buy a single car that came from OR or GA. Those are known national chop shops. Actually, sales gal knew about this, she was like - yep, right, don't want that. So check check and check. If they let you test drive on your own, take it to a nearest body shop and ask one of the guys to step out and take a glance at it. trained eye will see it all in heartbeat. I can't tell anything exterior wise from the pics, they are so dark. Btw, Walmart sells paint thickness gauges for $25. Good investment. 1.1-1.3 is standard paint thickness.
