Default City Gas Mileage

On my 2007 RX 350, I get around 15.5 MPG driving in the city. I have noticed that Lexus claim is 19 MPG city for AWD. Can someone confirm that they are getting these MPG numbers. I drive on flat/rough roads. 35 - 40 miles per hour, light foot on the gas pedal, 89 octane fuel. I have my tires set to 30 PSI like recommended, clean air filter ... My only other guess is to take the vehicle and see if Lexus needs to perform other maintenance. One thing I noticed is that the car will NOT go to the overdrive gear at 40 miles per hour, I am guessing that would drop the RPM to low for the car.

2006 RX330 @225K km [140K miles] original A/F & O2, coils but new plug @180K km, 5W30 Dino oil change interval at 8K km and scheduled routine services, #87/89 gas, 30 PSI for F/R. also light foot gas pedal and no hard brake.

City: Ave speed 30km/h gas mileage will be around 13L/100km that is 18 MPG
Combined 60% freeway 40% city : around 11L/100km that is around 21.4 mpg.

The government revised the rating process, the '07 RX350 is now rated 17/22 so you're not far off. We routinely got 14-15 in pure city driving in our '07.

Thank you for the information, I might have to look into the 400h. I do majority city driving to university, maybe that version might be a better option for a trade in. I have read people talking about a tune for the car that will add an eco mode, and get about 4-6 more mpg, but I cant seem to find much information about the tune or a seller.

Thank you for the feedback, I wish the car had at least 6 gears, that would really be nice. I wonder if I leave the car on ETC snow, if the lower throttle response will help me out.

15.5 mpg in city driving is very good. I drive a RX330 and get around 14 mpg in city stop and go traffic. On the highway I get about 21-22 mpg though.

I use 87 octane regular gas, clean and change air filter about every 15-20,000 miles and keep tires inflated at 30-32 psi.
