Lately my ML radio has been intermittent, sometimes it works and sometimes not. I decide to purchase another oem from a friend. Bring it to my favorite car stereo shop and had them swap it out. Turns out that second unit was dead too with the exact same problem where the volume **** turns but no sound and numbers don't go up from zero. The radio expert at the shop said I may need to go aftermarket radio. I said I happen to have one in my trunk, a Pioneer 7200nex, so the shop pulled wiring harnesses to connect aftermarket deck to my oem amp. He hooked up my aftermarket deck and that didn't work either so my ML amplifier was out too. By now i spent 5 hours at the shop and now I have to order a aftermarket amp and wiring. The new deck is installed but I have no sound until next week when all the parts come in. My moral of the story is I was trying to go for a cheap fix but ending up spending several Gs instead.

 

Several Gs? That seems pretty steep. Could you break that down so I don't have a heart attack if I ever need to get it done?

 

 

my new deck was $800, new amp was $300, wiring harnesses and steering wheel harness, new power cable, new face dash piece, and run new speaker cables and labor. I don't know the final cost until next Wednesday when all the parts come in.
