Parking Brake makes “spring” noise when engaged
Vehicle is 2007 RX350
I replaced my rear pads and rotors this weekend. I had used the parking brake adjuster “star” to loose the rotors, but still needed to use the M8 bolts and some tapping to get the old rotors to release.
Got everything buttoned up and now on engaging the parking brake it makes a noise like a spring being stretch or a creaking. Seems to be coming from the drivers side and you can hear from outside of vehicle.
Driving seems to be fine, I don’t hear any rubbing noises (which seems to be common for parking brake repairs) or feel like it is "dragging"
Any thoughts on what needs to be adjusted? Maybe the star adjuster is too tight? Anyone else have this happen?

So just to close my own thread. Disassembled brakes/rotors today and the parking brake spring was the culprit. It's probably just normal wear/tear (car has 126k) and original to the car but lubed them (top yellow ones and bottom one by the adjuster screw) and the sound is much better/silent. I also lubed wear the parking brake shoe meets the backing plate (a lot of sound was coming from there as well). Will need to have a full replacement of the spring kit next brake job.
Just thought this would be a good reminder for anyone doing rear brakes to make sure to clean the springs thoroughly.
