Default Mystery Rattling Noise??

I have a mysterious rattling noise that only starts if I go over a bump just right. It is pretty loud and a consistent rattle until I slow down to 10 miles per hour then it disappears. If I am driving on smooth roads it will never start. Since it only happens when the vehicle is driving down the road I cannot figure out what it could possibly be that's rattling underneath the car. Has anyone ever had anything like this before?

Seems like if it was an exhaust mount it would rattle all the time?? Why would it stop making noise at 10mph? I hope its something that simple.

it is easy to check and you have to start somewhere and discount things.

That is true. I have looked under the car and there is nothing obviously loose or broken.. To determine if there is a missing exhaust mount, I would need a schematic that details the location of the mounts. Lets assume that all checks out for a moment.. Based on the symptoms, what would be the most logical thing to check next?

It is a pretty fast metallic sounding rattle.. I can try to get some audio of it tomorrow.

What part could get knocked out of position when hitting a bump(it takes a decent bump/pothole) start rattling, then go back into normal position once the car has slowed to 10 mph. It is consitently at 10 mph when the rattle stops..

Yes. I can move the exhaust some. I did not think it was supposed to be rigid..

No............... Pretty sure we have gone over this...lets pretend it isnt the exhaust for a minute! .. Seems to happen when hitting a bump on the drivers side..

If you have real world experiance that leads you to belive that it is truly an exhaust mount problem, please lay out the details! If not, we are moving on.

Could be a sway bar link if it only occurs after going over bumpy roads.

Not a sway bar or bushing. Its not that there is a rattle while going over bumps. The noise starts when I hit a bump just right. The noise persists until I slow down to 10 mph. Sounds almost like something metallic dragging under the car..

Try to get a sound clip for us. Also, drive with all the windows open and maybe you can tell which side of the car the rattle comes from.

seems like drivers side since it also seems like it only starts after hitting a pothole on the drivers side... I've been trying to pinpoint it with windows open for weeks.. I can't say for sure either way...

Also check for loose sway bar bushing nuts. I had the similar issues
