Hello All -
I'm having an issue with our '07 RX350 and I'm wondering if anyone has a solution. Recently, the rear hatch struts were VERY warn out. You would be able to lift the rear hatch, but once it was all the way up, it was a gamble if it would hold (almost never if the weather was cold). So I replace them with some aftermarket units (I think the name was MaxPower or something like that......). In any case, the rear hatch opens fine now, but the motorized closing function doesn't work. It will attempt to close the hatch then just beep and go back up. So either, the new rear struts are too strong (too much pressure ?) or the rear motor used to lower the rear hatch is getting warn out. I'm leaning toward the rear struts being too stiff because when I try to lower the hatch by hand, it is rather difficult.
Any thoughts or suggestions on the best way to resolve this ? I already threw away the old struts otherwise I would have used one new one and one old one......that would have probably worked.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply !! I checked lift support depot as you suggested; I don't see any options for the '07 RX350 (with or without power lift gate) (actually, I thought they all had that option). Am I missing something ??
Thanks!
Thanks!

I would recommend trying OEM luggage door shocks(first) and see if this fixes your concern. If installing OEM shocks does not work, then you will likely need to replace the power back door motor(judging by your year/model it shows there is an option for power back door).
