Bought a RX350 (2008) Certified Preowned Lexus in 2009 from Park Place Lexus in Plano. In 2013, I noticed a crack in the dashboard by the driver’s side vent. Called Park Place Lexus and was told cracks in the dashboard are not under warranty and it may have been caused by what I was using to clean the dashboard. After arguing with the service guy he went to the service manager and they agreed to repair it and they did. Now in 2018, I have two cracks in the dashboard by the passenger air vent. Researched on the internet to see if other Lexus owners had similar issues. To my surprise Lexus had offered to replace the entire dashboards if you have cracks or melting of the dashboards. The bad news is this offer expired in October 2017. (10 years from the first date of use) I called Park Place to see if I could still get the dashboard or fixed. They stated the dealership could not do anything unless corporate approved so I need to call corporate. I called corporate office and they did not show the cracked dashboard had been previously fixed and the offer to replace the dashboard had expired. I asked if they could repair it like last time and was told that decision is up to the dealership. Just returned from Park Place Lexus. Their system showed the crack in the dashboard was done in October 2009. After speaking to the service representative and manager they cannot replace the dashboard since it is up to corporate to approve and they cannot repair the cracks because one of them is in front of the airbag. Bottom line to repair the defective dashboard I will have to pay approximately ~$2,000. I bought a Lexus based on the reputation of a quality vehicle. Had I known it was so cheap that the dashboard would need to be totally replaced in less than 10 years my decision would have been different. I understand vehicle parts wear out and need to be replaced but not a dashboard. This car is always garaged at home and at work and only has 76k miles. A dashboard should not crack on a vehicle this soon and definitely not on any quality luxury car. I really liked my car, however, I strongly recommend others to stay away from a Lexus RX 350 so you don’t encounter a similar bad experience.

Must be the Texas heat. My RX dash was replaced in 16. No problems so far.
Figured the replacement dash has a different composition.
By the way, take a breath in your posts. Hard to read.

Did you ever receive any letter from Lexus about the dash melt, crack notice ?. If you did not , I would bring it up to their attention. I got the letter from Lexus about 3-4 years ago or less, I found 2 couple of crack on the ac vent at driver side and 1 at the center , I was lucky enough to caught it just in time and get it replaced about a year ago at Sewell in Dallas. Like you my 2009 Rx only has 56k and always garage since bought it new. Good luck and sorry it happened to you.

I have 2009 RX 350 SUV, my rear tail gate lift that you can open manually is melting I called Lexus and they told me you have to buy the whole lock assembly. I own a mechanic shop and was google parts and the same part that melted for the back handle its comes aftermarket by Dorman just the rubber piece that i need to repair the handle. So glad I found that by Dorman aftermarket and ordered will be putting this on my SUV tomorrow and end my fingers getting sticky black rubber gooo once and for all.
Hope this helps any one out there with the same problem.
