Default Putting high miles on 2008 RX

We have a well maintained 2008 Lexus RX350 with 113k miles. We bought it used 5 years ago and put about 8-10k miles annually, not many highway miles. We're thinking about giving it to my son who will use it heavily with many daily highway miles. We're worried that a lightly used engine and vehicle can handle the sudden wear and tear. Thoughts please??

High mileage isn't a problem for this generation of Lexus. I have over 170k on my RX330 (the engine is older than your RX350). No issues at all with the engine or transmission.

Just make sure to change the oil every 5000-7000 miles or every 6 month and the transmission fluid every 50-60k miles.

Agreed with 'ToledoRX', just look after the car and it will look after you. Oil change every 5k (km) is very important (this is my opinion) and the usual maintenance and it will tick over nicely. These are some of the best put together vehicles. At 113k miles the engine is still young given that you mention "well maintained".

I'd also like to add that I see other posters on here who have 300-400k miles on their RX with the original engine and transmission with nothing more than basic maintenance (oil and filter changes, tires, brakes, and fluid replacement)

113k miles is barely even break in mileage on these Lexuses.

If anything, highway mile should be much easier than stop and go on the engine.
My wife's 08 RX350 AWD has 125K, still shift and drive really well, if fact we plan to hand it down to my son in 3 years once he reach 16.
Just keep up with fluid change interval and you should be go. BTW, I used mobil 1 high mileage 5w-30 oil since 80K miles and looks like the valve cover gasket oil seepage has stopped.
