I'm looking at a 2008 RX350 and the dealer selling it says it's a 2WD, did they even make a 2WD option ?
How do you tell an AWD from 2WD by looking at the car ?
Thanks for any help in solving this mystery !

Yes, Lexus made an FWD RX350 in 2008. The easier way to tell is to ask the seller if it is AWD or FWD. Otherwise, you will have to look under the car and see if there is a rear differential with half shafts going to the wheels. If it has a rear differential, then it's AWD.

Yes, 2nd gen RX were available as FWD or AWD versions.
There is no way to tell if a 2nd Gen RX is a AWD or FWD from the outside. The only way is to run the VIN number and look at the mfg sticker on the driver's door panel.
That being said, you can assume that higher trim RX with the HID headlights, navigation, heated seats are almost all AWD since the AWD version cost about $1500 more than the FWD.
The FWD usually came on base model and got slightly better mileage by about 1-2 mpg compared to the AWD models.
If you can get a good price on a FWD and you live in an area with nice weather, you probably don't need the AWD anyway. The AWD might be better if you live in an area that is hilly and gets snowed on a lot.

Thanks all,
I bought a AWD 2008 RX350 over the weekend in Flint/Black with Navigation and the factor trailer hitch.
It's a nice up grade to my 2003 RX300 that gave it's life to protect me !
