RX330 Alternator
Hi everyone! (First post)
I figured out that the alternator on my Mom's RX330 needs to be replaced. It is a 2005, luxury edition (has the GPS, and moonroof, and camera) etc....
The problem is I just paid for and ordered a brand new alternator, from my local parts retailer, and it is the 100A one.
I have recently found out that I could have ordered the 130A one for a fair bit more money, (another 70USD) but it is too late now because I already ordered the 100A one.
We are not using this car for towing, but I can't help feeling guilty that I missed the opportunity to get a more 'heavy duty' alternator for my parents' car.
Did I make a mistake by ordering the 100A one? Or will that be more than sufficient for what we have?
I just feel bummed out that I made some sort of mistake and ordered too soon!
Thank you for all your advice,
Moj

The fact that the car has survived almost 15 years on a 100 amp alternator should tell you that a 130 amp alternator is not needed.
Unless additional electrical equipment has been added to the car, having an alternator that is rated higher than the original will not give you any added benefits. It's like using an 18 wheel tractor/trailer rig to go to the grocery store and buy a loaf of bread. It will do the job, but you are not using it to is full capabilities.

Ah, I see!
Thank you Dennis - very good analogy - it puts my mind at ease!
I am going to attempt to replace the alternator myself, first time ever. I hope it goes well! thank you!
