Default Dual Exhaust on 04 RX330

Is it just me or what? The rear of the RX330 looks so unbalanced with only one chrome exhaust stick out the back. I think it would just balance the vehicle with a second exhaust pipe coming out the left side. Since I am new to the Lexus owners, is this doable? I would only want a "factory" look, not a "add on" look.

Check out the VW Tourage V8 and the BMW SUV with their dual exhaust. I am not looking for a great performance gain, just a sporty look! Of course performance is good too!

Any thoughts on this?

Default Duel Exhausts

As many of you know we own both an RX330 and FX45, and it's interesting to compare the styling of the two, side-by-side in the garage. But looking at them from the rear, there's no doubt that the big twin tailpipes give the FX a more aggressive, sportier look. I like the looks of both vehicles, different as they are, but the exhaust difference is one of the first things I noticed when viewing them from the rear. Like you guys I think Lexus should have added a second exhaust on the RX to complement its new sleeker, sportier look.

My thoughts exactly! They did a complete re-design to make this thing sporty but they left off the most basic item to convey the "sporty look".

The double-exhaust idea would add so much to the appearance of the RX330. There has gotta be a way to get this done. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do or , in general, where to go.

I dunno... I'll play devil's advocate and again compare my RX330 to my IS300 - don't see too many posts (in the IS forum) about wishing the IS had more than one tailpipe....

would it LOOK cooler? yeah probably, more balanced? yeah probably. DEAL BREAKER? nope

Jeff,

It is kind of like this. You bought a black RX with what I thought were the best looking wheels you could get on a RX, you know the graphite polished. But, you must have thought they were ugly so you got some chrome wheels. Why would you do that? I am guessing just for looks right? Same with the exhaust in my book. I am not looking for an extra 10 rhp or a performance sound from a 3.3 liter engine that only puts out 230hp. It is just about looks. It would look cool to me and I would be willing to pay a reasonable amount to attain that look. Actually a lot less then you paid for those chrome wheels that you bought that you like!

In fact, now that I have thought about it here is what I am thinking about doing. You live in Dallas right. I am here in Houston. I am thinking that I might drive up to your place and "saw off" your exhaust and have it "grafted" onto the left side of my wifes RX. Bingo, I will now have that dual exhaust that would "look" so cool to me!

Now, what was that address again???

Just kidding!

Mike

I think the dual exhaust would look great. I'm not sure how they would route it since the spare tire is directly in the middle under the rear end of the car though.

RXMike,

point taken - I guess your passion for balance can be equated to my passion for chromes... the one thing that brings us all together is our passion....

now stay the hell away from me

IMO, duals on SUVs and Trucks looks kinda silly unless you have the 450hp Cayenne or ML 55. I personally like the exhausts at coming out at the sides. But that is my 2 cents

There is a small curved cutout on the bumper where the exhaust comes out. It will look like an obvious add on job with the cutout on the left, unless you can duplicate it too.
