Great quick write up ''ghuns''.......Just to add the oem spring hose clamps are the best to use vs the worm clamps....You'll find they clamp the hose all the way around even pressure vs the worm clamps, that add more pressure at the worm/screw side. Yea they are simpler to get to, but for the spring clamps, there is a special tool on a cable, that you'll squeeze to open up the clamp & move down the hose......

Thank you for the detailed reply. I was looking for feedback from someone who did this recently.

The new thermostat came up with the gasket. Got it from Bell Lexus online and they included it in the parts.

I downloaded the pdf Neucorp had on the link you mentioned :-). One thing I was not sure why he removed the heat shield? I am going to use the pdf along with this video -

Would you say everything I should know is covered in car care nuts video? My biggest concern is the limited space to work with.

Thank you for all your help.

I have a mysterious coolant leak myself, I have bled the system several times, but after a day or two, no more heat, I have replaced the thermostat and radiator cap, pressure tested the system and it holds pressure and no leaks, I have noticed dried coolant on the air filter box,as if the cooling fans are slinging it up there perhaps 🤔, but I don't see dried coolant anywhere else, like once a month I have to refill the overflow container, any advice welcome

I have one of those from years of working on my Audis. Not enough room on the Lexus for the one I have.

Cant be too much different than our ES350. You can either rotate the clamp so it faces the bottom, or remove from the top after removing the electric fan assembly. One electrical connection, and, I think, four bolts. I changed the hose clamps to worm gear style.

>>>>The gear worm clamps are a tad bit easier, but they don't have equal clamping load as well as ppl can over tighten them, thanx to the design....

Known drawbacks of worm gear clamps are they may lose tension over time and their sharp edges may cut into a hose [if over-tighten], but I have not heard of equal clamping being an issue. The modern worm gear clamp was invented in the 1920’s and is still used today. I have replaced spring clamps whenever I come across them since the 1980’s and have never had an issue with them. Auto manufacturers like spring clamps because they are cheap and quick to install, but they lose their tension the more you open them. I install the worm clamps by feel, but the general recommendation is to torque them to 50 inch/lbs and make adjustment from there. I’ve measured that I usually torque by feel to about 30 in/lbs, and adjust from there.
