Replacing the rear spoiler (3rd brake light assembly Q) anyone has removed ??
Hi there
Has anyone recently replaced the rear spoiler ?
My original spoiler is faded and any tips will be appreciated. I understand there are 5 bolts that
need to be removed. Is there any other areas
I need to be aware of that might pose a challenge?
or is this a pretty simple procedure?
thx

Just the 5 bolts you mentioned.
It will still be held by 3 plastic clips so it wont fall out.
Just pop them out and the spoiler comes out.
Clips might break due to age but i wouldnt worry about it.

Hey Nad
do I need to put the 3M double side tape back on the back edge?
I don’t water to get inside or the spoiler flying off when
i am driving 100Mph down the freeway
what about the inside top panel? Do I just pull it off?

Inside panels just pop off.
Held by plastic clips and claws.
A new spoiler should have those adhesives already on them.
Should also have some weatherstriping for water.
I do wonder how much downforce we get with those things. 😂

I am buying a used Spoiler but in much better condition
I notice the only adhersive when looking at pictures are adhersive
on the back side of the spoiler . Is that what you mean?
I don’t remember any water adhersive or anything like that

Best probably if you take your old one out and see if there are any more you should add.

Have a look at the PDF I posted on the "Rear Bumper removal instructions for second gen RX" below. It has the instructions for the removal and replacement of the rear spoiler. Good luck.

Hey Hi Treb
i don’t see a PDF in there post
i did pull the rear panel off and I notice where
the rear middle 3rd tail light sit, there is a plug
and when I unplug it there sits a odd socket
do I just yank and pull the spoiler off after the 5 bolts
and thus gasket will pull off at the same time?
or am I missing something?
thx

The attachment was in another posting, not this one.
But I'll put it here again. Unfortunately I have no experience removing the spoiler but hopefully the instructions in the attachment will help.

Hey Swatt
dont bother wrapping it as it will look ugly.
My old spoiler is in very good shape and just very slightly
scratch and faded. I can sell you my old spoiler if you like
