Mobile One High Mileage
Hi, I have been using Mobil 1 synthetic "High Mileage" 5-30W for last 3-4 years.
I only drive 5-6K miles per year and I change it 2 times a year or every 3k miles.
My car has 146k miles now and it runs very smooth.
One time Walmart was out of the "High Mileage" version so I got the Mobile 1 Synthetic regular version and I could not tell any difference- but I always use the "High Mileage" when it's available.
I tried changing to Penzoil non synthetic just before a vacation trip one time because it was on sale and I thought I would try it but I could hear a difference in how smooth the motor ran so when I got home I drained it and only use the Mobil One High Mileage now.
Also, I get my oil filters for only approx $5 from Lexus OEM parts dealers on ebay.
I have been visiting the forums for years so I decided to join and share back to the community.

Dunno about anyone else; but i picked up my rx with 66000 miles on it; it now has 122,000 and change miles on it and ever since I got it I’ve been going to the independent chain shop just down the street from me and is very reputable; they do I believe it’s either a 80 percent regular 20 percent synthetic or a 90 percent regular 10 percent synthetic blend for
Oil changes and it seems to have plenty of performance. They use valvoline.

Why use a Hi mileage oil for? So your vehicle has over 75k on it, You want to swell up the seals, aka crankshaft seals, ect? Thats just asking for more issues.....You might as well go to the chemical section at the auto parts store & get a bottle of oil stop leak vs repairing it.....Only chemicals I use is injector cleaner, Techron & a botlle of Hy-Lube zinc additive or Lucas zinc-plus w/ 6 qtrs of Mobil 1 as well as a quality filter, Mobil 1, K&N, Wix xp........same as I use in other gas vehicles for decades..........

I have used Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage for a number of years in our 2004 RX330. I don't think there is anything wrong with the high mileage oils. This is certainly anecdotal since it is a small sample size (read: one), but we are currently at 270k and no leaks or other issues with PPHM.

Think about the diffferent weights= The ''W'' means winter, What the viscosity when cold, hence the lower the number the less viscous the oil is.....So w/ that, I'd think you'd want your oil flowing as quickly as possibble. The next number is when the oil temperture, hence a higher number (viscosity) will protect your engine when its running.....Have a look at how the oil has to travel thru a 2gr engine. I use 0w-40 Mobil 1 w/ a Wix, K&N, R/P filter as I run in other vehicles. btw, I've been using Mobil 1 since it came out in the very early '70's......w/ Purolater filters......
