Default Cracked Dash

I am new to this forum, and am still finding my way around. I did a search and didn't bring anything up, so forgive me if this has been discussed much previously.

We just bought our first Lexus. It's a 2009 RX350 with 119,000 miles. It's in excellent shape, but we didn't notice a small crack on the dash before we bought it. I have since learned about the enhanced warranty only to discover it ended in January. That was a bummer. Without having the entire dash replaced, what is the best way to make sure the crack doesn't spread and/or to fix the crack. We'd just like to stabilize the crack. We have considered getting a dash cover going forward, not sure how much that will help. We have a windshield sun shade and it's parked under cover. We are in Arizona and we know it came from Indiana, so it's been in the cold too. Bottom line, we just want to make sure what we have doesn't get worse, and hopefully can fill it in with something.

This is on passenger side. Possibly getting longer fast, as I can't believe we wouldn't have noticed it.

I have an 09 too but the dash is not cracked (yet). I always use one of those big sun reflectors across the windshield when I park it outside.
Maybe that will help prevent the crack from getting worse. I was going to suggest a tiny dab of super glue on the ends of the crack to act as a suture
but I have no idea if that will do more harm than good over time.

btw, I see that your RX lives in Arizona. I would definitely use one of those windshield screens at all times when parked. They're cheap on ebay.

Mine cracked, was never parked outside, Houston, new spring 2007, cracked badly by 2013, fixed because Toyota got sued by class action, but they took 2 years to do it, terrible service on Toyota/Lexus part.

While looking Nationwide online for another 2009 RX350, I came across two that had the bad dash. I guess the prior owners weren't aware that Lexus was replacing at no cost to owner and now it's too late. I don't think there should be an expiration on getting that done for free by Lexus because not all of them start deteriorating at the same time. My RX350 was always garaged, so being in the sun or cold isn't what caused it. I was disappointed until I stumbled across the news about Lexus replacing the dash, so I got in line! Not everyone had that opportunity. I just bought another 2009 RX350 out of Arizona, which will be delivered in two days. I looked closely at the pictures and didn't see anything, so hoping I haven't just bought a car that has a $2500 repair right upfront! I bought it for the color because I've always hated my Bamboo Pearl (don't ask...) and plan to sell it soon.

I went w/ a black Covercraft dash mat even though our rx has no dash cracks. The oem dash pad in these rx's are a massive let down vs other manufactures. The dash pad material is pretty shoddy, doesn't look good or feel like quality piece vs the rest of the interior. Seems like the interior designers really dropped the ball big time.....A dash mat cover beats the oem dash pad all to heck...When we lived in Chandler, we had dash mat covers on all the vehicles......

You can't have them fix the dash cracking. Its 100% out of pocket at this point.
