Default Transmission issue...upgrade possible?

So I have a 2007 rx350 and just recently crossed 170k. I bought it a few years ago with 150k and it's been trouble free up until now. It started having. A shift "flare" where in between 2-3 and 3-4 it hesitates to change gears unless I get off the throttle and slowly get back on. I did a filter and fluid change and also dropped the valve body and cleaned all of the solenoids that I could. I drove it around the block but it didn't seem like much changed. Going to check fluid level tomorrow and drive it again. My question is what's the best option for a new or reman trans? Has anyone upgraded transmissions from the newer ones? Perhaps from the 13-15 fsport models?

I don’t know about the upgraded, but others have accounted for the flare due to fluid in the transfer case/front differential

I've an 07 with 95k that does the same thing, but not always. Hate it because it feels like neutral, full slippage until let off the gas and then it will engage. I've too serviced my trans fully. Not sure if RXGS is right as he's been here awhile and I've read lots of posts over the years from the old timers who know these cars. I do recall reading that it is common and it is due to the logic (computer controlled trans) thinking it should always up-shift to (conserve gasoline) the highest gear. Some think the darn car wants to be in 4th, even 5th gear at 30-40mph, when it should be in 3rd having just left 2nd. This is the theory I believe as it makes sense that the computer control is trying to upshift and engage gears and valves to up shift when it shouldn't creating a slip. Obviously, you just let off the gas and let it get into gear. Furthermore, 07 is a unique year being the first year with the 3.5 engine and a more robust center locking diff which was 07 only. In 08 and beyond, the RX went to the now standard design of engaging rear drive only when needed. 07's are AWD all the time and have the other unique feature of being the only RX with the 3.5litre engine where you cannot turn off traction control by switch. You'd literally have to pull wires and relays to turn it off. I lived in and bought mine in Colorado and can tell you these 07's are a beast in heavy snow.

I've now changed the fluid twice because the first time was just fluid and filter. The second time I opened it up I dropped the valve body and cleaned all of that. Going to make sure fluid is at the proper level and hope for the best.
