Default phone book download

2008 rx350 with factory gps ...will not download phonebook from phone. Whats strange is it did download from a previous phone ( galaxy s5) , but my current phone Galaxy j7 star won't. I reloaded the s5 and it won't connect either. Any ideas?

After searching thru the forum I got a clue from a post in the third gen forum. Apparently 2 items needed ( 3 if you delete the phone link and then re-pair)
1. Car must be started , engine running ( not sure about this as I didn't try without...but other solutions were adamant about this)
2. Delete the phone from the cars setup and then restart to be sure to clear. Re-pair after restarting and enter pairing code. Restart again.
3. Make sure phone is paired and connected. Select transfer phone book on car. On phone select contacts , then select the settings, select share ( sub menu to select all or only some of the contacts) , and then select "via Bluetooth", and send.

I transferred entire phone book. This worked but after I had to delete extraneous entries from the car one by one , so selecting only the entries you actually want to transfer on the phone is advisable . Note that the Galaxy J7star is on Android 8.0 and the different versions of it may require some modification of the process.
