Default Rx330 Rack&Pinion

Hi!
Have any you guys had a problem with the Rack&Pinion?
I went to the car service around my house(Knoxville, TN). They told me mine is leaking and needs to be changed.
I'm having a hard time deciding to change or not because it cost like 1500$
Do any of you have recommendations or any other place I should have service?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, the rack is a known problem on the RX.

I went with an aftermarket unit that has a lifetime warranty and that's a good thing, because it has started leaking around the boots.I have to pay labor, but the part is free for replacement.

I paid $1,186 out the door for a Maval unit, alignment and tie rod. $1500 isn't a horrible price for an OEM rack.

Usually happens on the passenger side and there's a seal kit now so you don't have to do the whole rack anymore. For now check your reservoir often and keep it full.

Is that seal kit an OEM unit? In 2017, when I had mine replaced, three different shops stated there weren't any options such as that.

I remembered reading about it from this site. These guys in Minnesota make all sorts of repairs to Toyotas and Lexus and don't mind sharing insights on it. They don't give a part number though, maybe reach out to them instead of buying a new rack again. According to what they're saying on their link, you might need the entire rack or maybe not.
