Hi!
Have any you guys had a problem with the Rack&Pinion?
I went to the car service around my house(Knoxville, TN). They told me mine is leaking and needs to be changed.
I'm having a hard time deciding to change or not because it cost like 1500$
Do any of you have recommendations or any other place I should have service?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, the rack is a known problem on the RX.
I went with an aftermarket unit that has a lifetime warranty and that's a good thing, because it has started leaking around the boots.I have to pay labor, but the part is free for replacement.
I paid $1,186 out the door for a Maval unit, alignment and tie rod. $1500 isn't a horrible price for an OEM rack.

I remembered reading about it from this site. These guys in Minnesota make all sorts of repairs to Toyotas and Lexus and don't mind sharing insights on it. They don't give a part number though, maybe reach out to them instead of buying a new rack again. According to what they're saying on their link, you might need the entire rack or maybe not.
