I just had a pair of Goodyear Comfortred Touring tires put on. As I searched for the best deal, I checked Sam's Club where I have gotten tires before. But I also checked a tire store chain called Discount Tire. They are a national chain, but use the name American Tire on the west coast. Anyway, they were $1 cheaper (WOW - a whole dollar) and $5 cheaper for installation than Sam's. Plus they were closer to my house. The didn't have the size I wanted at the store, but had them delivered by 3 pm the same day I called and ordered..

Just to follow up - I bought the COOPER EVOLUTION TOUR $128 ea. and am pleasantly surprised how nice they are. They are very quiet and smooth. Considering how bad my Michelins performed I'm glad I saved $400 and didn't go that route. This is probably the quietest my RX has ever been.

It was a train wreck getting there however. Special ordered, I went to Sams Club to have them installed only to discover their TPMS programming device was broken - I walked out without finalizing the purchase even though they tried to talk me into buying/loading the tires in my car and going somewhere else. I ordered them again from another Sams Club who confirmed in advance they had a functioning TPMS device and could do the job. They came in, I went and this time was stopped dead when they told me they don't have sensors and have no prospects of getting any, anytime soon! No sale - I walked out again, no tires.

3rd time was the almost the charm - this time I found the tires $10 cheaper online at Walmart (same as Amazon price) Bought them (not just ordered like Sams) and they were delivered to store and ready to install - so I arrived at 6:45am and after 40 minutes or so of scurrying around, they had the tires, but were sold out of sensors! UGH I HATE these stupid sensors!!!! Good news is the manager ordered some and they came in within a few days later and the job was finally done.

I thought that a TPMS Service pack included new sensors - but apparently not. $38 ea. extra - I had 5 new ones installed including the spare - but this is still cheaper than Sam's Club who said they were $45 ea. And most local tire shops were ranging from $60-$100 just to do one sensor replacement.

I sure miss the days of being able to just get new tires without all these extra problems and expenses. TPMS is a nightmare.

TPMS is a safety device hence costly. Compatibilty sucks. They always find a way to stick it to you. It is what it is.
