Default 2007 RX350 Transmission Flush

Have a 2007 Lexus RX350 with 110,000 miles. I acquired this car when it had 87,000 miles on it. I don't believe the transmission fluid has ever been changed, but want to get this job done. I'm planning on just doing a transmission fluid drain and fill.

1. What's the proper fluid? Can I get this fluid at a local auto parts store (OReilly's, Autozone, etc...)?

2. Looks like the plug on the pan has a special crush washer (aluminum?). What's the part# for this crush washer?

3. Any other tips? What color should the fluid look like when draining?

I've done transmission fluid drain&fills on other cars like a Nissan Maxima. Hoping this one is as straight-forward.

On an RX350, It should use Toyota WS Transmission fluid. You can get them only at the dealer or ebay.

Don't know how to do the drain/refill, I pay a mechanic to perform this task.

Can I use something like "Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle ATF - Synthetic"? States it is compatible with Toyota WS applications.

I have no idea. I always use Toyota WS. Sometime I can find them at ebay at $8-9 per quart (reputable seller of course). Dealer cost is $11per quart with tax. I only use 5 quarts per year on my wife's 08 RX350 (drain/refill every ~10K miles) and my mechanic charges $60 labor.

Yes, I use the Valoline for both the tranny and steering. For the Tranny, you may want to do measure the extracted amount to see how much to put back in....

As for the steering, here is a video on the flushing process..

Pls note that after you top off the steering reservoir and start the car, the pump will empty the reservoir within seconds. So, have the rest of the ATF ready and refill right away....

It will take several flushes to completely return to red. It will darken right away as I suspect there is dirt within the steering rack that can't be fully cleaned out....

How much transmission fluid does a drain and fill usually take? I'm not sure how I am going to measure how much I took out. I will be draining into the same oil pan that I change motor oil with. The pan will be mostly empty. I guess it is just a guess, but I thought the dipstick for the transmission (measure when transmission fluid is warm/hot) is the way to tell if it is full or not.

You can pour the old fluid into an old container and measure how much came out. I usually save the same branded atf container so I can be sure the same amount is refilled.

if you don’t have one, maybe an old milk container and estimate ...
