Default 06 330. Water pump replacement w/o timing belt

Had replaced timing belt, pulleys, water pump. Entire kit at 157k 3yrs ago.
Now at 195k water pump leaks. Doing it myself this time. How do I pull back or recess back the tensioner to repin it. So I can take belt off pulley. And then water pump out.
I loosened pivot bolt on pulley. Big hex.
Pry bar on plunger wont budge a mm back
Looking for the enlightened method
Thanks!

did u replace the pump already? i would suggest just do the proper steps which would include removing the timing belt, so you wouldn’t have any untoward incidents like the camshaft pulley snapping back since the belt is loose.and once u got the tensioner out you can press it back inside using a big C clamp or whatever method you can find on youtube.timing belt is not that expensive, maybe replace it too since it is already out
