use sockets with extensions. when i completed the job i had a friend hold the socket on to keep it square whilst i turned it. I would try again with a friend to assist.

I think I may have said the wrong thing. The bolts I mean are the ones u can see at least on the right side after taking off the tb and air filter housings. I could not get that bolt off for the life of me

Hi Friends,

My favourite wrench for this.

I took some pics for everyone.

Mountain Wrench 12mm x 14mm Extra Long Reach(got it on ebay).

Offset side comes in very handy to reach around things like brackets and flat on the other side.

It has a reversing switch too.

and also on the note of doing the rear plugs; i hate to say it this way but i would love to give a swift kick to the growing of the engineers that designed it like this! i mean shoot did they actually feel we needed another excessive challenge or something? lol

Finally rear plugs are done with the help of my sisters husband who’s a huge car guy and does work on both of
their vehicles. There is no way i would have been able to get the bolt from hell outa there myself.

Great. Did you replace rear 3 coils while you are at it? Chances are they will never fail, but if they do, you are going to go through the same process again.

They do fail...as in my case. Plugs were replaced 2 years ago and I was not sharp to realized that I should have replaced the coils then. Guess what Cylinder 5 failed and I had to pay the cost. I did replace the 3 and kept the 2 good ones in case the fronts fail, that I can easily do.

So lesson learned for others.

No didn’t mess with replacing the coils as I didn’t have the $ to get new ones. So if it happens I will have to deal with it then but the chances of them failing are a lot less now that there are new plugs front and rear

It’s a good thing I finally got the rear ones done too because when 2 of the 3 rear ones were taken out; the electrodes were getting kinda rusty to the point im
surprised they didnt fail. but thank goodness they didn’t fail
And take out the coil packs

Hi just wondering for the passenger side bolt, I keep reading a ratcheting flex head is recommended.

Assuming the wiper cowl is removed, is there enough room to use a slim ratcheting wrench with socket? I'm assuming not as I haven't read/seen people do that so far.

I'm about to tackle this but want to make sure I have all the appropriate tools

thanks

i believe that should work. I just had my rear ones done w the help of my sisters husband who’s a major car guy and does work on both of their vehicles. Theres no way I could have gotten the dreaded bolt from hell which is on the rear of the manifold off myself. Heck it took him all his brute force to get it off as it was torqued on there so tight.
