Cool

You'd get it at least for $4,000 off MSRP. Remember, the dealer is still making $2000 profit on that deal. If the dealers refuse, just tell them "I'll wait". Next week, they'll give it to you.

Good Luck,

I'm all for being a tough negotiator, and getting the absolute best deal you can, but I know at least in our area that you would never be able to get $4,000 off any configuration on an RX330. The Nav-equipped units in particular seem to be in shorter supply, so I would be very surprised that you could get $4,000 off MSRP in any area. I'm betting that the dealers will let you walk, rather than sell at that price.

Hope you prove me wrong, and that you report back here after you are all done haggling.

Good luck.

Same here in Fresno, you will be glad if you can get $1000 off. The RX sold like hot cakes. Maybe in some area like LA you can get a good deal.

I would be real surprised if you were to get $4000 off MSRP. The best offer I received was $3500 off, and that was negotiating between 10 dealers. More likely you will get $2000 to $2500 off. Dealerships make money even when they sell at invoice price (holdback, special dealer rebates and incentives, etc.) However, there are always the rules of supply and demand, and this car is in demand.

Definitely depends on the place. Here, where I am, they are starting to stack up on the lots. I just went by a Lexus dealership and they had about 10 of them in black in a row waiting to be taken home. Yet on the Volvo lot right next door, all but two cars were already called for.

I agree that the market determines the price. I just bought mine this week for $3300 off MSRP of $42,428 for a net $39,128. Unit had Nav/premim plus and a few other items. This was $800 better than the other dealers in town - including the one that sold me my '01 RX300. So much for trying to keep a loyal customer.........

Having just one dealer local to us (within a few hours drive at least), we ended up at basically MSRP for the combination below, and it was a special order as well. I'm sure if we had selected something less specific, that was already on the dealer's lot, we could have received some discount off MSRP. Our dealer threw in a few free items as well (extra set of floor mats, WeatherTech cargo liner) but we paid MSRP for the vehicle.

I'm still waiting for mine here is San Diego, CA. Put CC# deposit on AUG 15. Opted for a Millenium silver metallic/gray interior with nav/rear camera for $38,413. Tax included came up to $42,100.

Have you guys ever thought about buying from out of state dealers?

When I bought my RX300 in 2000, the girl helping us with our paperwork was chit chatting with us and told us that they sell a lot of cars out of state. At the time we bought our car, they had trouble keeping the RX300's on the lot, cause they were selling so many. Sometimes, they have drivers drive the car out to the buyer, if they are close, or they ship/flatbed it out to them for a fee, which is more than offset by the savings!!!

I was super happy with the service and price I got from my dealership for my car, and plan to purchase my next Lexus from them (if my wife lets me upgrade to the RX400H).

I just went there on the weekend to get some service done, hoping to check out an RX330 for a test drive, but they didn't have any on the lot, cause they were selling so fast..
