I can see you driving an Acura SUV and trading the RX while it is still running.

I’m can’t hear the video sounds real good but I had a rattle from underneath our 08 RX. Turned out to be a heat shield by the gas tank. Never really heard it much at idle more at over 40. Probably different then yours but might be worth looking into before expensive repairs

Thats the torque mount, I replaced when I replaced the alternator a couple weeks ago. You have to remove it to get to the alternator & saw the bushings were kinda wearing, so great time to swap it out. IDK how many miles you have on your 350, but I'd be figuring out the cost of the replacement vehicle vs the cost to get your present vehicle repaired. You kinda know what your working w/ now vs a replacement vehicle & what that may need.

yea it might end up leading to that in terms of getting a replacement car. I just hope In the end it’s not a timing chain needing replacement or worse yet a cam gear needing replacement which means big $$$$$$

Tomorrow I am dropping the rx off at a different toyota, Lexus, and Japanese specialist to have them look at it and see what they can find. It could be something simple which I hope is the case because I love the car for the most part and would hate to have to dump it with only a little over 138000 and change miles on it for a different one but if it turns out to be something major like a broken timing chain guide which would require the entire engine to be taken out or something just as bad: mainly the camshaft gear: if that has gone bad that will mean complete engine tear down and we are talking big bucks for this in the thousands which means it’s look for different rx time again.

just contacted the shop i took it to; and they could hear a rattling in the engine; but they havent pinpointed and nailed down what it is yet. Ive got a bad feeling about it though; that its the timing chain rattling in which if that is the case; this one is done.

I'm having faith for you that it is something simple like an upper engine mount- maybe wishful thinking but I am hoping for you. lol

I too hope its something simple and this one can be saved. But if not; well; time to move on probably and hopefully to a 3rd gen instead of a second gen. Ive already found a 3rd gen that would "fit the bill" so to speak.

Unhappy

Well looks like my “sad” suspicions were right. It’s very bad and grim news. My rx has a rod knock on the lower portion of the engine and it’s gonna run 7000 for a new engine. Game over. time to say goodbye to this rx
like I said before I swear when It comes to me and rxs; I’m cursed!!! Well I think I’m moving on to the 3rd gen as I found one that will fit the bill so to speak.

well; im convinced; when it comes to older rx's and me; i swear i have a curse on me! I mean look at whats happened so far; first 300 i had got totaled out in a accident; second 300 i had; had the dreaded transmission whine; and now this 3rd second gen rx has a very bad rod knock which will only get worse and eventually cause the motor to "explode". I swear when it rains it pours as far as my luck goes.
