Default Trans cooler options

Just bought a '07 rx350 a couple months ago. Did a windshield, centric rotors/pads, p/s pump, alternator, swapped out the coolant & oil/filter. Next is to drop the trans pan & swap the filter/fluid. Since I'm there, I want to install a trans cooler......Now the question is which way to go= The oem style one or a Hayden one? I'm also thinking of deleting the cooler in the radiator. As far as any trans service, I don't have any, but I'd think it was done sometime, whatever that may be........Thanx for your input.

Can I ask- do you have a dip stick on your model or sealed?

I'm not a fan at all of trans-cooler in the radiator cuz when they fail the fluids mix- which I'm sure you already know
and I'm preaching to the choir.

PS- Here is a nice Hayden 514 on ebay @$42 but I don't know about fitment- I've never installed one aftermarket.

I just installed one I got from a uhaul store. Super easy to install and the temp dropped from 190 to 140 with me bypassing the radiator. I even took it on a ride up the mountains and canyons here, and the temp never breached 145! Well worth it and super Seay to install!

Hi everyone,

Did anyone find a quality trans cooler???

I think my radiator is on it's last leg I saw coolant spatter drops near lower hose so I think my rad is starting to leak near the seam very slowly and my factory oil cooler lines also go thru the
radiator but I am looking to bypass all that and go with an aftermarket cooler that doesn't use the radiator at all.

Anyone use an aftermarket cooler plz send pics & priceing and your experience. Thank you!

I'd replace your radiator w/ a all alloy one vs the oem compositic tanks. I haven't done a trans cooler yet. Now you got me checking out Hayden's web page & reading about Ultra-cool & Rapid cool trans coolers....Tube & fin like you posted #2 above, while Rapid-cool is a plate & fin which you is a little more efficient size for size.....wow this goes back to i/c's for turbo's.....LOL.

Looking at Hayden's site, possibly a cost effective cooler is #516....7.5'' vs 10''......Both are .750'' thickness x 15-7/8'' length w/ 7.50'' vs 10'' width....IDK if you'd mount it w/ the inlet/out facing down or w/ the inlet/outlet facing to the side.

Well after further looking, I believe my car has a external trans cooler, on the drivers side below the fog light in the black part of the bumper facia there's a air inlet w/ a cooler of some sort. Just happen that I was checking out the muffler & had a look at p/s pump that was replaced, even though the A-arm was brake cleaner cleaned, I want to pressure wash that area. Had a quick look at the drivers side & saw what I think is the trans cooler.......Wooh hooo....That saves me a little money there.
